Learned Something

Did you know those plastic thingies on the end of your shoelaces are called aglets? I didn’t but now I do.

Thanks shoe dude at Sports Authority. I am now a richer person for knowing this.

  1. I learned something today. Thank you for this information. πŸ™‚

    • Glad I could spread little known facts here and there. πŸ™‚

  2. The shoe dude had been waiting his whole career for someone to notice his innate wisdom.

    And that someone was you.

    • It’s all about fate, you know?

  3. One time a guy selling me shoes asked if I thought he should have a vasectomy. Why don’t shoe people say normal shoe things to me? Why must they be weird?

    • I remember that story. I also imagine him to look like a Bundy from Married With Children.

  4. Aaaaaaand this was just a question on Jeopardy. I looked like a rocket scientist.

    • It was? Wow, I guess this little fact is a legit piece of information after all. Did yo get it from reading this or did you already know it?

      • Totally got it from you.

  5. “Those little things on the end of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister.” ~ The Question

    • I think you are right. It unnerves me.

  6. The bigger question is, are the shoe laces pictured above the actual ones you were buying? Because if that’s the case, you’ve got a lot more writing to do. I think you’re leaving out a few key details here.

    • I wish. My running shoes are dull but they work. I’m the type that has to have really short laces.

  7. I vote for the heart ones…aglets and all.

  8. I guess my only question now is, what are the cloth-like string thingies on the end of my aglets called?

    • Aglet tougue

      • Ha!

Why do I find that so funny…

      • ps. I went to a casino party last weekend and made reference to the term “neckerchiefs and gold bracelets” on three seperate occasions.

FYI, it was a real hit the first two times…the third time they called me a joke-killer.

      • I’m glad you dropped “neckerchiefs and gold bracelets” reference. I’m honoured. Honored. Whatever.

  9. thanks for sharing the wealth πŸ™‚

  10. I think that was a piece of information I once knew and have forgotten and now have learned again.

    • I love it when that happens. Especially when it is connected to some distant memory.

  11. I already knew this… do I get a prize>?

  12. I miss fun shoelaces.

    • They still sell them! It’s never too late!

    • I have two pairs of fat shoelaces, one with spiderwebs and one with skullies. You kin have one.
I don’t need eitehr right now, but I’m waiting for the day when I get new shoes and will just go “THESE LACES I’VE BEEN HANGING ON TO FOR THREE YEARS NOW HAVE A USE!”

      what?! they were gifts!

      yes.
my family gave me shoelaces as christmas gifts.
Either I am really easy or really hard to shop for.

      I imagine it’s the latter.
